Piano Dress at the Mod Alldayer (Outfit of the Day/OOTD)

For my second Jukely experience, I grabbed some passes to a Mod Alldayer at the Hoxton Sqaure Bar & Kitchen. It promised to be a day filled with DJs spinning all the Mod and Northern Soul hits, followed by some bands rocking out in the back room in the evening. Of course I had to dress appropriately for the occasion…

Dress – OASAP // Shoes – Clarks // Bag – C&A // Necklace – Present from a friend

Monochrome is the definitive go-to mod look. I bought this piano keys dress from Oasap ages ago but had never found the perfect opportunity to wear it, until now! It’s a little on the short side, but with some black tights and shorts underneath, I felt more than comfortable. I love the loose shift shape of it as it makes it easy to throw on and simple to accessorise. This dress was also the perfect pairing to show off my new Clarks shoes.

Right, back to this Mod Alldayer!

After a few pints over some 60’s soul and British beats from the DJs in the main bar, we became a little bit peckish, so decided to venture around Shoreditch in search of food. It was Vietnamese which took our fancy this time around, and we ended up in Sông Quê Café on Kingsland Road. There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants down this road, but this one looked the most welcoming as it is bright and spacious. The food here was absolutely delicious! I went for the vegetable spring rolls, followed by the chicken in satay sauce with egg fried rice. My goodness, those spring rolls were heaven!

Our sweet tooths were calling for a creamy, sugary dessert, so on the way back we stopped off in this cute and retro looking milkshake bar. The quirky interior of The Love Shake was extremely 50’s/60’s, so I seemed to fit right in. It was only right we had our own mini photoshoot. The milkshakes here are to die for! I’d gone for Oreo, whilst Anne had chosen peanut butter. Both were scrumptious and exactly what we needed to wash down our late lunch.

With our bellies full, it was back to Hoxton Sqaure just in time for the live bands to start in the back room.

First up were Husky Loops, all the way from Italy. Don’t get me wrong, these guys were good, but I think we were expecting something a bit more Mod-like. Next band on the stage, Sisteray, weren’t very Modish either, but they were definite rockers, with their punky attitude and mosh ready riffs. These guys were our favourites from the whole day.

There was just about enough time for the raffle prizes to be claimed before the final bands hit the stage.

Lucky Anne had one of the winning tickets, and she very kindly gave me her prize – a Ringo Starr vinyl!!

The finale of the night were the Purple Hearts (with the original line-up) and a Mod supergroup called the 79ers, which was made up of members from The Chords, Long Tall Shorty, The Purple Hearts and 007.

We had such a fun day/night and it was lovely to experience something a little different 🙂
