Queen of Hoxton Wigwam

Last weekend, Amy threw a shindig at The Queen of Hoxton to not only celebrate her birthday, but also as a little goodbye before she goes travelling and then moves up North for a new job! We started off in the main bar area, trying out some of their new winter cocktails

The Utterly Nutterly was bloody delicious!! Anyone who knows me will know I’m all about peanut butter. If something has peanut butter in or on it, then I’m having it! I wasn’t too taken with The Ginger Nephew. It tasted a little like sour milk. The Winter Blunderland was yummy, especially the alcoholic cherries on top!

As the night went on, our tummies got hungry, so up we went to the Wigwam.

I love winter even more in the Wigwam on the Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop. It’s so cosy, and their hot cocktails are to die for! I’d never tried the food here before, but there’s a first time for everything. I went for the Golden Bird, which was supposed to come with caramelised apple sauce, but instead there was some sort of pickled onions which I wasn’t really a fan of. The chicken itself was succulent and very melt-in-the-mouth. The potatoes and spinach underneath were cooked to perfection. Everyone else went for the 3 Little Pigs, which was basically pig in 3 ways in a bun; pork loin, sausage meat with sage & orange, and crispy crackling. It seemed to go down well!

Now for the pièce de résistance, the hot cocktails!

The Big Bad Buttered Rum is quite possibly THE best hot winter cocktail I’ve ever had. Served in fancy (plastic) glasses, with a slice of lemon and plenty of cloves. It’s enough to keep you more than toasty whilst up on the roof. The Golden Apple comes in a cute little camping cup, along with a stick of cinnamon, and it’s equally scrumptious!

I’m already planning my next trip up to the Wigwam. Be warned though, it does get very busy up there, and the Wigwam itself has limited space, so get there early if you want a log to sit on. If there’s no space inside the tepee, fear not, as they have more seating outside around warm fires.

We ended the night down-downstairs in QoH’s basement club area where we became cats and boogied the night away!

This night was the perfect send off for Amy. Bon voyage to my bestie as she travels round Thailand and Asia over the next 2 months, and best of luck when she starts her new job in the new year. I’m sure this won’t be the last you’ll see of Amy on the blog!
