As you may know, I’m off to Paris on Thursday for my birthday *EXCITABLES* so this weekend just gone, I headed home to Luton to see my family and catch up with some friends. The biggest catch-up was needed with Jess, who I’ve known since high school. This babe treated me to a birthday breakfast at Ed’s Diner in The Mall. This is a quite new addition to Luton town, and I was excited to finally try out Ed’s breakfast menu!
First up was deciding which milkshakes to order. Jess had the butterscotch, whilst I went for a new flavour, Lotus Biscoff which was ruddy delicious! I’d also recommend asking for an Ed’s Skinny Shake which is 50% less fat and a much lighter option, as the normal shakes are quite filling and you’ve got to save some space for pancakes!
And now for the food! Jess went for the All American, which has the best of both Worlds – an English cooked brekky (fried eggs, sausages, hash brown and bacon), with added American extras (maple syrup and pancakes). Maple syrup drizzled over bacon may not sound very appealing, but Jess was pleasantly surprised at just how tasty these 2 are together. I decided on the French toast dusted with icing sugar, topped with fruit and maple syrup. Unfortunately they were out of strawberries, but the extra blueberries went down a treat!
If you sign up to Ed’s Club, you’ll be sent a voucher for a free shake for your birthday, AND a voucher for a free burger on the anniversary of when you first signed up! You can also collect points which can be used as money off your bill if you register for a free card. TRIPLE WIN!
My foodie birthday treats didn’t stop at breakfast. Look out for more in The Birthday Series, including a posh brunch at Chez Mal!
