Dinner at The Breakfast Club [The Birthday Series]

As I’m going to be in Paris for my actual birthday, I thought I’d book a table at The Breakfast Club to celebrate with some London friends. I came armed with disposable cameras, ready to stuff my face with food and cocktails, mostly cocktails. Once I waited for everyone to arrive, I perused the menu over my first cocktail of the night, Tropical Gangster. What a great start to my celebratory evening. This cocktail was the perfect balance of fruity and creamy, just like drinking a smoothie on a warm summer’s day.

Right, now everyone had arrived, it was time for food!

I was very jealous of Sarah’s full-on All American breakfast dinner, that was until my buttermilk fried chicken burger turned up! I’m not a fan of jalapeños so the layer of coleslaw had to come out, but it was a good thing as it meant I could actually fit my big gob around to eat it! It also tasted great dipped in maple syrup. I love that most of the dishes come with chips and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Speaking of chips, BC’s are beautiful. So light and fluffy, I could eat them alllllll day. Along with my burger I had also ordered a couple more cocktails, including the Marmalade Margarita (with a double shot of tequila as they’d run out of Cointreau) and their exclusive Christmas cocktail (made up of fireball whiskey amongst other things that I don’t remember because I was quite drunk…) which was my favourite of the night, so creamy, almost like a dessert.

Speaking of dessert…

My warm chocolate brownie (again, no photos coz Cocktail Charlie was too busy blowing out a candle) was delivered by the lovely staff members singing Happy Birthday. They also placed a magnificent flamingo hat upon my head. I felt spectacular!

The brownie was, as you can imagine, absolutely scrumptious, along with the cinnamon cheesecake which was something a little different. If I had to pick between the 2, I don’t think I could, so I’d just have to have both *greedy face*.

We had just about enough time to check out the secret bar downstairs.

To gain entry into the secret bar, you have to say the secret phrase. I’d told Tim and the boys the wrong pass code, much to mine and the waitress’ amusement. Contrary to what you hear, it is not ‘cracking thunder lips’. The bar downstairs is called ‘Call Me Mr Lucky’, combine this information with a clue from the waitress regarding a certain Daft Punk song and you’ll find yourself being lead down a secret staircase round the back of the restaurant.

The bar is very pretty with colourful lights lining the ceiling. The tunes are spot on too! If you’re lucky, the bartender might just let you spin the wheel of fortune, or misfortune in my case where the only thing I won was a glass of water. We visited on a Tuesday night, so it was rather quiet down there compared to what I’ve seen from the bar’s Instagram at the weekends!

A big thank you to all my bloody lovely friends who came to help me celebrate, and a massive thank you to the wonderful staff for a magical evening!

See what else I got up to for my birthday with my little tag The Birthday Series
