Welcome to November’s top 10 best bits. It was a busy month, so let’s get to it!
10) Button’s Birthday at Bodean’s
You know you’ve been accepted by your boyfriend’s friends when they invite you to celebrate one of their birthdays. James couldn’t even make it, but I still went along. There was meat, cocktails and even a massive pitcher of beer at Bodean’s. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon on hangovers fresh from the Halloween party!
9) Polo Bar
Before we headed to a gig at Village Underground, James & I popped to Polo Bar just across the road from Liverpool Street Station for a spot of dinner. Polo is a 24 hour breakfast and diner café. 24 HOURS! Eggs Florentine any time you want! It’s cheap and yummy. One of my favs. There’s also a guy who works in there who is the spit of a really young Woody Allen.
8) Hairspray @ The New Wimbledon Theatre
Date night with Little Miss Katy consisted of a bottle of rosé, Wetherspoons finest nachos, and a good old sing-along to Hairspray. The show is currently on tour but had made its pit stop in South West London for a couple of nights. Hairspray is one of my favourite musicals. The songs, the colourful costumes, the era, EVERYTHING! This is a great production which runs extremely close to the film. I loved it!
7) Zombie Fighting Scouts
I’d managed to get a 2-for-1 voucher to see Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse from ShowFilmFirst. Turns out the voucher couldn’t be used at Odeon cinemas, which I found out after we’d walked a good 15 minutes in storm Barney. Nonetheless, I forked out for full price and I actually didn’t regret it! I really enjoyed this film. It had me cracking up, absolutely hilarious! Unfortunately it’s not showing in cinemas any more, but if you’re a fan of Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead, then I highly recommend looking out for this film when it comes out on DVD.
6) New Blog Domain
You may have notice a bit of a change around here lately. Not only have I moved my blog from Blogspot to WordPress, but I’ve also got a fancy domain! I’m a little clueless when it comes to the technical side of blogging, but I spent one Sunday morning following online tutorials. I am so proud of me as I did this all by myself! There are still a few things that need ironing out, but I think it looks quite lovely. What do you all think?
5) Cats The Musical
My bestie had announced she would be away travelling for Christmas, so I planned an early treat and took her to see Cats The Musical. Amy is a fellow kitty lover like me, so I knew she’d love it. You can see more on my outfit and our evening here.
4) American Idiot @ The Arts Theatre
It was my turn for a theatre treat, this time from my brother. We were celebrating my birthday early (a month early), with an overindulgent dinner at Bubba Gump, followed by the American Idiot musical. This was the song and album that first got me into Green Day, so it was amazing to see it come to life!
3) Amy’s Birthday at The QoH
Before Amy left for her travels, there was one more night of celebrating, this time at the Queen of Hoxton. We started off with cocktails in the main bar, followed by food and hot winter cocktails in the rooftop Wigwam, and finishing with a boogie in their basement club. I couldn’t think of a better way of waving goodbye to my dear friend. You can read all about what we got up to here.
2) Unique Cinema Dates
In 1 week, me and The Boyf had planned 3 unique cinema dates; an old classic at The Prince Charles Cinema, an even older classic with the Underground Film Club, and a special screening of a personal favourite introduced by the star of the film. You can see exactly what we got up to here.
1) Katie’s Twenty Something: The Quarter Life Crisis Cabaret!
Katie Brennan, blogging babe extraordinaire, is also an all singing, all acting theatre extraordinaire too! Not only does she act/sing from scripts for parts she is given, but she’s a dab hand at writing ass-kicking one-woman cabaret shows too! I (along with the other Bangarang ladies) was oh-so proud of this super woman! If you missed her 2 night sell-out at The Alley Cat, then fear not as her show will be coming back for 1 night only to St James’s Theatre. Hurry though as tickets are selling out fast!
So, that was my November in less than 1,000 words. See October’s best bits!
