For Christmas, even though James & I agreed to save money by making each other gifts, he cheated and bought me tickets to see The Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon. I’ve been dying to see this since it started, so I’ll let him off for breaking the rules…
Since this was going to be a show set in the 60s/70s, I thought it only best to dress for the occasion.
As soon as I opened this top (similar here) and skirt from my Nan on Christmas Day, I knew exactly when I’d showcase them. Can’t you just hear them sing ‘Oh yeah! You really got me going!’ once paired together? These pieces can be worn together perfectly, but are also key items for mixing with other bits from my wardrobe (and I think we all know I have A LOT in my wardrobe/s) so keep a look out for their return to the blog.
I was lucky enough to pick up these Orla Kiely for Clarks shoes in their sale. I already have these in brown, but this black pair is bound to get even more wear. It also helps that they’re incredibly comfortable, considering they’re heels. Unfortunately they’re all sold out online, but have a check in your nearest Clarks store as you might just find a pair!
Now, back to that show!
If you’re a fan of The Kinks, you will absolutely love this theatre production of all their hits, plus some extra lesser known songs from the band. When you first hear the riff for ‘You Really Got Me’, you’ll be sure to feel tingles on the back of your neck. Even if you’re not all too familiar with The Kinks, you’ll get some enjoyment out of the show as the songs are catchy, the story is fun, and the set & costumes are rocking! I really, truly loved every second of this show and would gladly go back, so if anyone is looking for a date, you know where to find me!
Have you already seen the show? I’d love to hear what you thought in a comment below 🙂
