It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for my Hump Day High 5!
The big news of the week is that after 5 and a half years of living in the same room in Stratford, I’m finally moving out to somewhere new. I shan’t be moving far, just a short tube journey. This is going to be a big move for me, and I’ve already started to clear out some stuff, mainly from my wardrobe. So keep an eye on my eBay as I’ll be selling lots!
Hogs & Hops @ Bodean’s
Wednesday I was invited along as Erica’s +1 (again! We’re basically lovers) for an evening of beer and meat pairing at Bodean’s. I’ve never eaten so much meat in my life! We started with swordfish, followed by chicken wings with blue cheese dip, then there was pulled pork and burnt ends and a final main of Bodean’s ribs. There was even a delicious looking chocolate brownie for dessert. First day of lent and I was presented with that! I was good though and only ate the ice cream. Each of the dishes came with a different beer which was something I’d never really thought about before. I’ll have a full post on this coming soon, but for now you can read my post on Belgo Holborn’s relaunch from last week’s #HumpDayHigh5.
Tame Impala @ Ally Pally
I finally, FINALLY got the chance to see Tame Impala play live. I was a little worried as I’d heard TI were one of those bands that sound great on record but not so much live. Well, I’ll have you know they were ruddy amazing!! So lights, much pretty. I really love the Ally Pally, but it is a bit of a bugger to get to/from. I was a wee bit disappointed that they didn’t play ‘I’m A Man’, but everything else was superb. I’d definitely pay to see them again.
February 13th is what is also known as Galentines day (anyone who is a fan of Parks and Rec should be familiar with this fictional holiday). I spent mine at brunch with 3 parts of Bangarang (Erica, Charlie & Claire). The food and service were a bit pants, but fortunately for me, the company was fab and more than made up for it! I’ll have a full post on where we brunched on the blog soon.
On Sunday we headed to Mayfair to have a snoop around Hendrix’s flat. He lived on Brook street next door to classical musician, Handel, obviously not in the same time period. Hendrix’s old bedroom has been remade to look exactly as he did when he lived there. They’ve gone into such detail as the only original item in there is the oval mirror above the little fireplace. Hendrix spent a lot of time in his bedroom, even using it for interviews and photoshoots, so there are hundreds of photos which made it a little easier for them to copy and replicate everything. If you’re a Hendrix fan, or even a Handel fan, get yourself over there for a mighty snoop into both their living quarters!
