I’ve been debating with myself whether or not to post a #HumpDayHigh5 this week. Over the weekend I received some truly devastating news about my best friend Amy who has been travelling with her boyfriend over the past 4 months. They finally made it to Melbourne, Australia, but on Saturday morning Amy was involved in a bicycle accident and is currently in hospital in a critical condition. As you can guess, I’ve not really felt like celebrating all the good things from the past week, but Amy is such an amazingly positive person that she has inspired me to carry on!
I finally visited Creams Cafe last week! These dessert parlours have been popping up everywhere and I was so happy when I came across one round the corner from my new place. I’ve been eyeing up their sweet treats. It was probably the most difficult decision of my life, but I eventually settled on the hot Chocolate chip cookies and a Nutella & peanut butter milkshake. Both were divine! James went for a classic banana split but ruined it with a boring cup of tea (seriously?!). I cannae wait to go back and try more!
When tickets for a David Bowie tribute show popped up on Jukely, I knew I had to go! Absolute Bowie go through the different eras of David Bowie with some amazing costume changes. This was such a great show and he even sounded just like Bowie!! If you’re a fan of tribute shows Brooklyn Bowl put on some really great ones so it’s worth checking out their listings.
I’ve been living in my new place now for a month and have only just got round to buying new plates! I picked up these beauts by Cynthia Rowley in TK Maxx over the weekend. I have been looking around everywhere for my perfect plates and have been quite fussy as I want something that is ‘me’, and what’s more me than these nautical plates! Now, I just need some matching bowls…
An envelope from Australia
I came home Monday night to find some post from Australia. I had a feeling I would be receiving something from Amy as she had asked for my new address the week before her accident. At first I couldn’t quite bring myself to open it, but I’m glad that I eventually did. It was filled with postcards from her travels, a friendship bracelet and a handwritten letter about what her and Sam have been up to. It certainly did put a smile on my face and made me laugh, a cry, A LOT. It really has reminded me of her positive spirit and has given me the strength to think positively about her current situation.
Amazing Amy’s Recovery Fund
I’ve set up a donation page so if you’re in a giving mood, it would be greatly appreciated. This only went live yesterday afternoon and has already raised over £2,800!! It just proves the impact she has made to so many people’s lives and I know she will fight and pull through this to carry on doing so. However, she has a long road to recovery and so please do keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you x
