April’s Top 10 Best Bits

Ello! Let’s throwback to April. It was a pretty tough month for me (bit of an understatement!) but I’ve somehow still managed to make a list of my top 10 best bits. Enjoy!

10. Tinseltown

So I moved at the beginning of March and I’m still discovering what Gants Hill has to offer. My brother & I were really excited to find Tinseltown at the top of my new road as we’re both suckers for an American style diner. We finally gave it a go in April, and it was deeeeeelicious! You can read all about it here!

9. Dead Man’s Whiskey @ Fiddler’s Elbow

The Dead Man’s Whiskey boys played their first ever gig in Camden and had announced they would be donating all their proceeds from the evening to Amy’s page that I set up. I went along to check them out and meet Amy’s cousin, who is married to their drummer. The guys put on a great show and managed to raise £90!

8. When the support outshone the main act!

I went along to see Wilko Johnson play at The Forum, but it was his support act, Joanne Shaw Taylor who really stole the show! I was mesmerised with her guitar skills, and she looked as though she was having so much fun up on that stage too. I could hear impressed whispers from the crowd around us, and I think she got just as much, if not more, of an applause as Wilko! See who else I managed to see in April!

7. Pullman Life

French pop duo, Sauvage have written an original song especially for Pullman, the luxury hotel brand. They had a special launch night at their hotel near St Pancras. There were drinks flowing, canapés being passed around, a fab set from the Sauvage boys, the chance to chat to them after their performance, and even a private tour of the hotel! If you’re planning an overnight stay in London, I’d definitely recommend Pullman, with their luxurious chic, yet modern rooms and beautiful bar area.

6. Meilyr Jones @ Moth Club

This was my 4th time seeing Meilyr, and he just keeps on getting better. The Moth Club, with its glittery gold ceiling, was packed. It really does feel like an old working men’s club from the 70’s, but in a good way. Each time we see Meilyr play, he shows more and more confidence. We managed to grab him for a quick chat after his performance and he very kindly signed a t-shirt for Amy. Meilyr is definitely one to watch out for!

5. My night at Brooklyn Bowl

I had a long overdue catch up with Mr Hobbit. I’d managed to grab us passes through Jukely (use code JUKECE1 for £10 off your first month) to see The View play at Brooklyn Bowl, so we decided to make a night of it. We had dinner (and a truly scrumptious chocolate brownie) in their restaurant followed by getting ourselves a lane for a quick game of bowling before the gig started. I really do love this place! It’s a fab music venue but it’s also great if you just fancy a bite to eat, a couple of drinks or even a game or 2 of bowling.

4. Ascot with Appletiser

I was invited along as Erica’s +1 to Ascot. We got to spend the day in Appletiser’s box, making yummy cocktails in a private class from cocktail genius Rich Woods. I even placed a few cheeky bets and won £20! You can read my write up of the day and see what I wore here!

3. Creams (x3!)

In April, I managed to visit Creams 3 times! We all know I’ve a super sweet tooth so it was inevitable I’d spend a lot of time there when they have a restaurant at the top of my road! I’m making it my mission to munch my way through their menu of milkshakes, smoothies, sundaes, pancakes, waffles, cakes and cookies!

2. Hometown in London

My dear friend Brendan popped down to London from our hometown of Luton for the day. He was visiting an open day for a photography course so afterwards I took him to all the main attractions so he (and me!) could practice his skillz. We were really lucky with the weather for most of the day. I love playing tour guide to my hometown friends in my now home city!

1. Amazing Amy

As you probably all know, my best friend Amy had a terrible accident at the beginning of April all the way out in Australia. I set up a Go Fund Me page to help her family pay for her treatment, as well as their flights and well-being whilst they sat by her side during her fight. She unfortunately passed away in May. A massive thank you to anyone that donated and/or shared the page. I think we were all quite overwhelmed by the initial response as we’d managed to raise almost £3,000 in less than one day!

So, there we have it, my month of April whittled down to the top 10 best bits. What exciting things did you get up to in April?
