Ahoy, and welcome to this week’s Hump Day High 5! Anyone else sick of all the sun? I’m a winter baby at heart, but of course I’ve been taking advantage of this ‘good’ weather with walks around the park (obviously not hunting for Pokemon, obviously) and seaside trips. Here’s this week’s best bits!
I’ve not been to the cinema for months, and then this week I ended up with 2 trips! First up was Ghostbusters with The Boyf. I actually really enjoyed this! It paid homage to the original brilliantly. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone that is still yet to see it, so I’ll leave it at that.
My 2nd cinema trip of the week was to see Suicide Squad with Erica. We grabbed some tapas at Las Iguanas beforehand. Now, Suicide Squad, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I felt that Cara Delevingne’s character was a little OTT. I am all about Harley Quinn though! I also don’t feel we got to see enough of Leto as the Joker to really say whether he was fantastic or not.
On Saturday, our original plan was to go to Brighton for the day but then we realised it was Pride so it would be really busy. Instead we spent the day in Southend. We walked the whole 1.3 miles down to the end of the pier, had some ice cream, sat and enjoyed the views and even played some crazy golf before walking the 1.3 miles back (we had no choice as the train was not running) to Adventure Island where James got himself a wristband and went on some of the rides. I’m a big wuss when it comes to fairground rides, but somehow James managed to convince me to go on the ghost train! We had an amazing day thanks to the glorious weather!
I cancelled my Sunday plans and finally had time to get some stuff up on eBay. I’ve still got bags full of stuff to photograph so will hopefully get more bits up over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
I managed to get James & I some cheap tickets to see The Go Between at the Apollo Theatre, starring Michael Crawford, only when we go there it turned out he wasn’t in the show on this particular evening, hence the cheap tickets. It didn’t matter too much as we both enjoyed the show nonetheless. It’s intense but also funny, with some amazing performances from the strong cast. Apparently it’s based on a book, which was also made into a film, so I’ll be adding it to my ‘To Watch’ list, and I’m sure James has already added it to his ‘To Read’ list.
See what I got up to last week.
