The Templar Coat

Last week, Alexa Chung launched her second Archive by Alexa collection for Marks & Spencer, so of course I treated myself (again!) to a little something the day of it’s release!

As soon as I spotted this coat in teaser photos of the collection, I knew I had to have it! It’s everything I could ever wish for in a coat. Navy and black is my favourite colour combo, plus a velvet collar, pockets and buttons, all the buttons! Β It’s also a lot warmer than I was expecting, though the shorter sleeves do give me a bit of a chill, but they’re so Chung! Look at any photo of Alexa wearing a coat and 9/10 you’ll notice short sleeves. It’s one of her many signature looks which has been incorporated into the collection. I just make sure I’m wearing long sleeves underneath, or long gloves, or both for when it’s really cold. I’m a size 8-10 but for this coat I’ve gone for a size 10 to give a bit of room for lots of layers for when winter really hits.

I’ve been wearing it every day and have found that it goes with anything. That’s because this coat is the perfect combination of girly sweet with a slight boyish charm. It looks great over a cute dress and tights, or loose trousers and boots. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this coat was only Β£99, which I think is quite cheap for such a thick coat of great quality, especially from M&S. It’s a timeless style which can (and will) be worn year after year.

If you’re thinking about buying this coat, then do it, quick, as it’s likely to sell out very soon!
