I was sent a £30 voucher to use on food delivery site, EatFirst. They deliver ready to eat/heat meals, plus sides, snacks, desserts and drinks from a changing daily menu. Each day has a different selection of dishes, but most of the same snacks, desserts and drinks are available every day. This means that if you fancied trying their truffle mac and cheese, you can only order it to be delivered on the day it features on the menu, but don’t worry, each dish usually makes an appearance on the following week’s menus. EatFirst only deliver to zones 1-3 in London, so if you live within these zones, great news for you. Don’t worry if you don’t as you can nominate a place to pick up your order from. The drop-off times come in 45 minute slots, and they’ll text you when your delivery driver is on their way. Delivery also costs just £1.95.
So, here’s what I got for my £30!
I decided to order 1 item from each section of the menu for the following day. Everything comes in its own container along with heating/plating instructions. For my ready to eat dish, I chose the eggs and avocado. The serving directions were simple; lay out the slices of bread, spread them with the mashed avocado, place the hard boiled egg halves on top, and finally add a little dollop of the chilli jam. Easy peasy.
For my ready to eat dish, I went for the butternut squash quesadilla. They were already made up so all I had to do was place them on a plate and microwave for around 90 seconds. It comes with little pots of salsa, yoghurt and coleslaw, and it tastes absolutely delicious! Lovely and soft with the perfect amount of filling.
I washed these dishes down with 2 bottles of beer; 1 Crate larger and 1 Hitchino Nest. I liked the Japanese classic ale more as it was a light beer which I prefer to darker beers. I also ordered myself a flourless chocolate cake, a chocolate chip cookie and 2 bags of the baked pittas. The chocolate cake was sooooo yummy. Deliciously moist and even nicer with the vanilla custard. Now, I am a massive cookie monster, it’s my number 1 type of food, and I was quite impressed with this cookie. It was the perfect level of sweetness and wasn’t too tough and crunchy. The baked pitta pieces were too tough and crunchy for me though, but James seemed to really like them and finished off both bags.
Overall I was really impressed with my first order from Eat First. I love the ever changing menu and it’s great that you can nominate a convenient time and place for drop off. If you’d like to give Eat First a go, be sure to use code O8APUPZ7 for £7.50 off your first order!
