I’ve had a pretty quiet week but we had a little escape over the weekend. Read on to find out more!
Expat Games Night
A fun games night was planned in the Expat office for Thursday night. It started with a Foosball championship, followed by a couple of rounds of Pie-Face, then a few games of Wink Murder, and finally, Twister! It was such a fun night filled with plenty of pizza, booze and laughs.
Best Western Luxembourg
James & I spent the past weekend in Luxembourg. We stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Plus Grand Hotel Victor Hugo. Quite the mouthful of a name! We arrived late Friday night at the conveniently located hotel and were welcomed by the very friendly receptionist who gave us some great tips for our weekend in the city. I’ll have a full post on the trip coming soon.
Saturday night we met up with my old housemate, Elie. There was a Digital Media Festival happening in the city over the weekend so we grabbed some tickets to one of the free installations, The Rise of the Machines at Rotondes, which is an events venue set inside a disused train/bus shed. It’s basically the Luxembourgish equivalent of Camden’s Roundhouse. After the mini lights show, we ordered food and drinks in the bar area where we sat and ate surrounded by a seriously cool playlist.
Luxembourg Grund Quarter
The rain on Sunday had washed away the small trace of snow which meant we could venture down into the Grund without fear of falling over. The buildings down there were so cute and quaint. We made our first pit stop for drinks at Updown Bar before getting lost in the tiny winding streets, eventually finding our way back and getting one last drink at Scott’s Pub on the river.
No More Panic Attacks!
This is probably the main highlight of my week. Last year I had an incident whilst waiting for my delayed flight home from Berlin in July whereby I ended up having a massive panic attack and needed medical attention. These panic attacks started to become a regular occurrence during my commutes back in London, and I had another big one at Gatwick Airport before we boarded our flight to Belfast. Since then I have attended some therapy sessions and been put on medication. These things combined have seriously helped me, but obviously, I had that niggling feeling in the back of my mind as our flight to Luxembourg lingered. It felt so great to make it through security and boarding without feeling any anxiety, and it makes me feel so proud when I think back to how I was just a few months ago. Bring on more adventures!!
So, that was my week. What have been your #HumpDayHigh5’s?
Check out last week’s post.
