Last month Revival Vintage put out a call on Facebook for someone to style a ‘Granny dress’. I love me a fashion challenge, so of course I volunteered!
I can see what they meant by ‘Granny’ dress with its long sleeves, high neck and long skirt. It made me feel like a bit of a nun, so I undid a couple of the buttons down the front and folded it down like a collar. I also rolled up the sleeves to show a bit more flesh. It’s a size 12 so is a wee bit big for me, but I like how comfortable it is to wear. The belt is easily adjustable too.
The colours of the dress are beautiful. A mixture of turquoise greens and blues. I’ve stuck with the 1950’s feel and paired it with some blue Mary-Janes, and some cute frilly socks. I think this would also look great with some white plimsolls for a more relaxed look, or maybe I could swap the belt for a leather brown one and add some brown brogues. Maybe in time, when I feel a bit more confident, I’ll chop off the sleeves altogether, so watch this space!
Pin it for later!
