Hump Day High 5

Hump Day High 5!

What a weekend I have had! I may as well call this the Manchester Edition as my top 5 things from the past 7 days all happened over my weekend away in the Northern City. I’ll have a full post on Manchester here soon, but for now, here’s a sneak peek!

EasyHotel Manchester

For my weekend away with my friend Nuraan, I’d managed to book us 2 super cheap nights at the EasyHotel in Manchester. The room was very small, but stylish and cosy, however the walls are super thin so we could hear everything our neighbours were saying, but the hotel clearly knows this as they have a bowl of free earplugs sitting on the reception desk for guests. The location more than made up for it as it was situated in the heart of the Northern Quarter which is considered 1 of the best areas in the city.

Colourful City Stay

I can see why the Northern Quarter is loved so much. The streets are so colourful with artwork everywhere; on doors, shutters and down alleyways. It reminded me a lot of Shoreditch in East London, not only for the vibrant street art, but for the cute cafes and cool bars too. We spent most of the weekend exploring the area and I can’t wait to go back for another visit.

Food in Manchester

The main activity we part-took in during our mini break was eating, eating all the food. We had everything from burgers and milkshakes, to sushi and cocktails, and not forgetting breakfasts of avocado and eggs. It was difficult trying to decide just where to go for each meal as there is so much choice. It just means I’ll have to go back for dinner at the places we never quite got to.

Cat Café

Nuraan & I are both cat Mummies, her to Inky and me to Ringo. As you can imagine, we were missing our fur-babies immensely, so a visit to Manchester’s very own Cat Cafe was a must! The cats in this cafe are all the most beautiful of their breed. There was big and fluffy ones and slim and slinky ones. You pay £1 for every 5 minutes you are there, with free unlimited drinks, plus extras for any cakes and other treats. If you’re a feline lover, I definitely recommend popping in for a visit. Half an hour would cost you just £6!

John Rylands Library

When I had mentioned my upcoming trip over on Instagram, my dear pal and blogging babe Jasmin recommended a visit to the John Rylands Library, stating it as her favourite place in Manchester. It’s free to wander and we were headed down to explore Deansgate anyway, so we popped in. It really is beautiful and has a definite Hogwarts vibe to it.

So, that was my week. What have been your #HumpDayHigh5’s?

Check out last week’s post.
