That’s right, I’m bringing back my month gig round-up! My live music diary had gone a little quiet, manly due to me being lazy. Anyway, here’s who I caught in April!
Mona @ Moth Club*
I first saw Mona live 7 years ago just after the release of their self-titled 1st album, so when I saw them pop up on Jukely I hit ‘Go’ immediately! They played at the super intimate Moth Club and they put on one hell of a rocking show, just how I remembered them.
Wallows @ Queen of Hoxton**
I was lucky enough to be invited along to catch Wallows’ first ever London gig. They’ve a great indie, surfer sound. If that’s your jam, you should give their EP Spring a listen. You may also recognise one of the singers as Clay from Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. As you can imagine, they’re already pretty popular, the venue was completely sold out. They were a little nervous as they started, but soon eased into the night, even giving the crowd an absolutely gorgeous rendition of The Beatles’ If I Fell, complete with perfect harmonies.
The Academic @ The Garage*
My 2nd Jukely gig of the month! The Academic have popped up in my Discover Weekly playlist more than once, well, 4 times more than once. They were great, but it was support act Sea Girls that stole the show for me, and they’ve since cropped up in my DW playlist, so Spotify knows. That’s not to say The Academic weren’t amazing. The crowd was electric during their set, and I’d definitely go and see them again!
Gigs marked with a * are those which I got passes for through Jukely. You can get £10 off your first month by using my special code: JUKECE1
Did you manage to make it to any of these gigs? Or maybe you saw someone else. I’d love to hear in the comments below!
Be sure to read all about why I go to so many gigs.
** I was invited to see Wallows for free, but rest assured, all words and opinions are my own 🙂
