I had a very busy Sunday with a birthday breakfast treat at Ed’s Diner in Luton, followed by a posh brunch with unlimited prosecco at Chez Mal, down in Malmaisson’s Brasserie. We’d managed to grab a deal from Time Out. For just £30 per person we each had a main or brunch course and a dessert, with unlimited trips to the chefs table, PLUS unlimited Prosecco!
The chef’s table consisted of a selection of cheese & crackers, pasta & potato salads, couscous, sliced meats, and even some jellied eel. It’s difficult to not fill up on these small, delicious nibbles as there’s so much to choose from, you want to try everything! I had to remind myself I still had a main AND dessert to come!
With the prosecco flowing, and wearing my perfect-for-brunch jumper, it was time for our main courses!

There was plenty to choose from with burgers, traditional Sunday roasts, eggs in a variety of ways and pasta dishes. I’m a sucker for scrambled eggs and salmon, but on this occasion I thought I’d try something a little different. I had the pumpkin and chestnut ravioli. The pasta was cooked to perfection and had a little citrus kick to it. Bernie’s turkey Sunday roast with all the trimmings looked wonderfully succulent.
By this point we were all stuffed, but somehow we managed to find space for dessert. I had the dark chocolate mousse topped with whipped cream and honeycomb pieces. This was creamy and light, the perfect end to what was quite a heavy brunch. Russell had the most amazing hot chocolate I’ve ever seen! It was made up of vanilla & white chocolate flavour ice cream, with big marshmallow cubes and a mini jug of hot chocolate sauce. Scrumptious!
I really loved the décor of Chez Mal, with their fun neon lights, sultry Jack Vettriano (my favourite) paintings and even a Christmassy cinema sign. If you’re visiting Chez Mal without a Time Out voucher, the brunch (Main, dessert & unlimited visits to the chef’s table) costs £25. Drinks are not included in this price, but the unlimited prosecco will set you back £15, so get drinking! Considering all the food we ate, the large selection of options, and the quality, we all felt this was more than worth it. We can’t wait to come back!
