If you’re a South East Londoner, like Moi, then let me introduce you to your new favourite brunch spot!
Lazy Peach opened in Forest Hill mid December, but I’m surprised it’s taken me & Erica so long to visit! Before settling down to eat, we had a look at the seriously cute items they have for sale. From kitty makeup bags, to sassy prints, and even some pretty potted plants, I’ve made a mental list for payday.
And now, for the food. Well, actually, we’ll start with the drinks. As I was ordering a dish from the brunch menu, it meant I could order us their special deal of 2 for 1 prosecco teapot cocktails. They’re sweetly presented in clear teapots and contain peach, apple & lychee juices topped up with the goof fizzy stuff, and decorated with pretty floating flowers. Erica also went for a coffee of some sort, but don’t ask what kind as I’m not a coffee drinker so didn’t really pay an attention. She seemed to like it though, I think…
Now for the really good stuff! I’d already being eyeing up the menu online before we visited so knew exactly what I was going to order. Eggs Tokyo are made up of freshly poached eggs atop a soft white muffin with tempura soft shell crab. It was a nice twist on the usual eggs Benedict. The sriracha mayo was also a great touch as it gave it a little kick! Erica decided to build her own toasted sandwich. They’ve loads of really interesting toppings & fillings, including fig jam and peach. Erica went for belly pork, Asian slaw, goats cheese & Japanese mayo in ciabatta.
For dessert we couldn’t decide between the waffles or the doughnuts, so we just HAD to get both to share. The waffles came topped with creamy vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce & cute panda biscuits. I was more about the Korean twisted donuts though. They were absolutely covered in the sweetest cinnamon sugar, but the dark chocolate dip helped take the edge off.
Most people would’ve finished there, but not us! Erica ordered another coffee that again, I wasn’t paying attention to, mainly because I ordered the cutest treat ever! I forget what it is actually called as it was just written on a board at the front of the counter, but it was basically a mini glass of milk with a strawberry flavoured wafer straw. It also came with a little cinnamon swirl. It was just what I needed to round off a super brunch!
