A few weeks ago I was invited by Fuller’s Kitchen to a secret supper at The Sail Loft in Greenwich. The Sail Loft is a beautiful large pub restaurant run by Fuller’s and spread over 2 floors, with amazing views of the city over the river. Inside, it of course has a nautical theme with cute little wooden boats dotted around the walls.
We were greeted by some members of the Fuller’s team, along with a glass of prosecco as we settled down in our seats at a very long dining table. We had time to peruse the menu before we were asked for our individual main orders. We were then presented with a selection of starters to share.
The starters we got to try were West Mersea Oysters, Roasted Octopus, Venison Carpaccio, Seared Scallops, Roasted Beetroots, Cured Meat Platter and Pumpkin & Chilli Soup. I was surprised by how good the octopus was! It wasn’t as chewy as I was expecting and the chorizo jam really helped make it more flavoursome. Most peoples favourite was the scallops. It came with pork belly which was melt-in-your-mouth succulent.
For my main I opted for the Wild Mushroom Ravioli with burnt onion puree, black cabbage, cobnuts and Parmesan. It was very tasty and very filling. The sauce was so creamy and light, and the cobnuts gave it that extra crunch. Nuraan and Erica both went for the 8 oz Rib Eye Steak and it looked like they both thoroughly enjoyed it. Emma’s Ricotta, Black Fig & Truffle Honey Quiche looked utterly divine and everyone who got to have a little taster all raved about it.
Now for the desserts! We had a selection of Chocolate Brownies, Baked Alaska, Banoffee Sundae, Lemon Crème Brûlée. The chocolate brownies were definitely my favourite with it’s salted caramel ice cream. I also really liked the Crème brûlée with a lemon twist. Most people seemed to like the banoffee sundae but I’m not too big a fan of bananas, so it wasn’t really for me.
I had such a lovely evening, filled with delicious food, and just check out that view!
* I was invited along to the Fuller’s Secret Supper for free, but rest assured, all words and opinions are my own 🙂
