January was a bit of a quiet month for live music, but thankfully my gig diary is starting to look up for February! Here’s who I saw in the first month of 2017!
Katie Brennan’s Quarter Life Crisis @ Brasserie Zedel
The absolutely fabulous Katie Brennan brought her Quarter Life Crisis cabaret show to London for 1 last hoohaa having recently taken it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the whole of August last year. Her show makes me laugh, cry, and question my life choices so far. This was my 2nd time seeing the show and it was great to hear some new songs.
Tim Burgess @ The Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall *
Things had gotten pretty quiet over on Jukely lately, but it’s started to pick up since late January, which was when I grabbed Nuraan & I passes to see The Charlatan’s Tim Burgess play a solo show. This gig was part of the Independent Venue Week being celebrated throughout London. The sound inside the Elgar Room, which is situated inside the Royal Albert Hall, is actually pretty good!
Joanne Shaw Taylor @ Shepherd’s Bush Empire
Unfortunately I was unable to make this gig in the end, but James still managed to go, so here are some words from him about it!
“Joanne Shaw Taylor brought the blues-y thunder to Shepherd’s Bush in an outstanding performance showcasing her beautifully soulful voice and face-melting guitar skills. Taylor relishes every second on stage, delivering soaring guitar solos while fusing old and new tracks with a thrilling, vivacious energy.”
Gigs marked with a * are those which I got passes for through Jukely. You can get £10 off your first month by using my special code: JUKECE1
