* I was invited to this event where we were given free workshops, food, drink & a gift, but rest assured, all words and opinions are my own 🙂
Today is a special day for 3 reasons. Not only is it St George’s day, the patron saint of England, but it’s also the birth & death anniversary of Shakespeare, and thirdly, to celebrate I’ve got a little giveaway! But first, I’m going to tell you about a fun little evening that I was recently invited to with Viking.
It took place at the gorgeous Boulogne Bar, upstairs at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town. We were welcomed with drinks & canapes, and a very talented mandolin player, serenading us before we started our workshops. First up, we joined Jacqueline to learn all about sonnets before having a go at writing our own. We each took it in turns to write a line for the sonnets being passed around the group. I’m sure you can imagine the hilarity that ensued when it was time to read them all out. Lots of fun!
Our next workshop was a class in calligraphy with Mathilda from Quill London. Now, I was already a little nervous of doing this one as I’m not the most artistic, even worse after a couple of glasses of prosecco, but I gave it a go. I don’t think I did too badly, well that’s what I thought until I got a look at everyone else’s! Think I’ll stick to typing my love notes via email.
We were kindly gifted these beautiful quill & ink sets, and since I don’t quite possess the skills to use them adequately, I thought I’d do a little giveaway! So to be in with the chance of winning, just tell me your favourite Shakespeare quote below. Competition ends Sunday 28th April at 8pm GMT. A winner will be chosen randomly and revealed via my Instagram the following morning. Good luck!
A big thanks to Viking for the invite & gift, to the Bull & Gate for the delicious food, to Jacqueline & Quill London for the workshps, and finally to Elouisa for capturing some of the snaps I’ve used above.
