Tank & Paddle specialise in homemade pizzas and craft beers. It’s a relatively new space close to Fenchurch Street Station, with plenty of space, whether you’re there for date night or a couple of pints with the boys. Why not make use of the games they have available on the big wooden table, big enough for 20 people!
We perched ourselves on one of the high tables and were approached by one of the staff members who ran us through what they offer, along with their current specials and her own personal recommendation of the mac’n’cheese with pulled chicken and bbq sauce.
As Erica had arrived before me, she went over to the bar to order us each a pint (make mine a Meantime) whilst I perused the menu.
We took the staff’s recommendation and ordered the Mac Attack and my God it is divine! I’ll never eat mac’n’cheese without bbq sauce ever again! Now for our pizza orders, after much deliberation, I finally decided on the Billy Goat’s Stuffed, though it was a very close call with the Popeye (maybe next time). The Billy Goat was topped with sweet red onion chutney, goat’s cheese and a sprinkling of spinach. Erica went for the Veg Your Bets, which had toppings of sun dried tomatoes, green olives, mushroom and artichokes. We both agreed that although we did enjoy our pizzas they weren’t spectacular, though they were probably just underwhelming after that mac’n’cheese. After our pizzas, we of course went for dessert.
The Nutella dough balls were so good, like seriously GOOOOOOOD! Crispy and filled with that sweet hazelnut flavoured chocolatey goodness we all love. They were so good that we both managed to eat them all despite being absolutely stuffed full with mac’n’cheese, pizza and beer.
Although we weren’t too fussed by the pizzas, the rest of what Tank & Paddle have to offer, more than made up for this. It’s the perfect spot whether you’re looking to have a quiet and romantic pizza date night, or if you’re after somewhere with plenty of space for a big rowdy group and game on the giant Jenga. The mac’n’cheese with pulled chicken and bbq is worth going back for alone! And don’t get me started on the Nutella dough balls! They also have some fab weekly deals, like any regular pizza for a fiver on Mondays, or how about Tank Tuesdays when the 1st 100 pints they sell from 5pm are only 2 quid!! If you’re looking for other pizza joints in London, be sure to check out Erica’s post.
Pin it for later!
